Come & Try Lacrosse Every Thursday from April 13th 2023!

Why is Lacrosse a great sport for kids?

Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse "stick" and ball.

Kids don’t need to be built in a specific way to become a talented lacrosse player. While many sports create advantages for taller or heavier built players, lacrosse is for anyone who can hold a stick. It’s also easy to learn, which helps get people involved as young as 6 years old.

Lacrosse is action packed and high scoring. By design there’s no standing around, which makes it fun to play and watch.

Lacrosse is also very affordable with low fees and all new junior players receive a brand new playing stick for FREE on payment of their registration fees.

Lacrosse is one of the safer sports for children to play as it is completely non contact up to the age of 11 after which contact is gradually introduced at age appropriate intervals.

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Originating from indigenous people in North America as early as the 12th century, it is also  one of the oldest.

If you're looking for a welcoming, inclusive, supportive, family friendly and rapidly growing club to give Lacrosse a try, you've come to the right place! There's opportunities for men, women, boys and girls of all ages.

Our facilities at the Women's Memorial Playing Fields have also recently undergone a $9 million  upgrade and is now one of the best sporting facilities in SA.

Please register for our come and try sessions on March 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th 2023.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

New to lacrosse and have no idea what a pinnie is?

It is simply a reversible singlet that makes it easy to distinguish what side you are on. Blue on one side and white on the other, these make coaching a breeze as you can easily put kids in defence or attack and everyone knows who is on their team. Not only that, but with everyone in the same top, we all know we are one club...

While not a compulsory item, the pinnies are an essential piece of your uniform for trainings.

In case you missed it... Sturt Lacrosse Club's very own Orlando Kernaghan took out the MVP in the Adelaide Thunders game against Team Canada.

The boys put on a great show and fight against the Canadians. They were in front during the second quarter before the Maple Leafs put on 5 really quick goals. Adelaide stayed with them all game with Canada pulling away to win by 6 in a high scoring affair.

Final Score Canada 20 Adelaide 14

Under 11's start tonight and here are the coaches for the boys team!

Damien Halliwell has a wealth of knowledge having played lacrosse since 14 years of age. He will be coaching both the kids and new coach Dan Thomas.

Dan got into lacrosse after his sons started playing. He is now not only coaching but will be playing his first season ever in the Mens Division 2 team... Nice work Dan!

Good luck to you both and to the team.
...

Under 11's start tonight and here are the coaches for the girls team!

Mackenzie Appleton and Ella Robjohns are the new breed of coaches and it great to see some of our leaders of the junior girls willing to coach the new generation.

Both of these girls smashed it in the Under 15 Rep teams last year and with Mack being a mid and attacker and Ella being a defender they have a well rounded knowledge base. We are super keen to see how these girls go! Good luck champions!
